This large-aperture ultra-wide angle prime lens adopts a 14mm focal length and maximum F1.8 aperture for creating dynamic close-ups and new perspectives. Featuring two XD Linear Motors for a high-speed, smooth focusing performance, a clever optical design to supress aberrations, and durable body to continue efficient operation in more challenging shooting conditions – offering a powerful performance everywhere and anywhere.  

Efficient Handling   To ensure better handling, Sony have incorporated intuitive controls; A focus mode switch that allows for instant switching between auto and manual focus modes; A customisable focus hold button that offers focus hold control but is also customisable so the user can assign other functions for fingertip control; The Linear Response MF ensures that the focus ring is responsive for subtle control when using manual focus; An aperture ring with a click-stop switch enables control over switching click stops ON/OFF.

Reducing Optical Aberrations  

To maintain uniform, sharp images across the frame, Sony have incorporated an advanced optical design made up of 11 groups and 14 elements, including two XA (eXtreme aspherical) lenses, one aspherical lens, one Super ED glass element, and two ED (extra-low dispersion) glass elements. The elements are strategically arranged to effectively suppress optical aberrations and distortion, such as sagittal flare, colour bleeding, chromatic aberration, and more. The advanced optics offer G Master optics and deliver beautifully rendered images.
