August 2019

9th August - Wildlife Photography Presentation with Tesni Ward

7PM - 10PM

Join Harrison Cameras & Olympus UK for a FREE evening presentation with Wildlife Photographer Tesni Ward

Photographing wildlife with the Olympus system opens up new opportunities for creativity and flexibility with your images. Learn how to get the most out of this system along with hearing firsthand experiences with the new EM1X

The talk will start at around 7PM. Alongside Tesni will be a representative from Olympus UK.

Olympus Ambassador Tesni Ward is a Wildlife and Nature photographer based in Sheffield.

Tesni’s photographic journey began when she was given her first DSLR on holiday as a teenager, but it was in her early 20’s that Tesni began to give photography more attention. With upgraded equipment and a new thirst for photography, she would go out and explore the Peak District at the weekend, snapping away at anything she found to be visually appealing. It was however when she travelled to Alaska to photograph the famous coastal Brown Bears that everything really changed for her – being surrounded by ‘true’ wilderness, camping on a beach whilst surrounded by wolves, bears and all manner of other wild animals gave her the first real sense of freedom.

‘Wildlife is unexpected in so many ways. I love everything about nature, but when you photograph wildlife the personality of individual animals begins to shine through, the more time you spend with them. I love nothing more than trying to capture these small quirks and behaviours that make each animal as unique as you or I.’

In March 2016 Tesni decided to take the step to becoming a full time photographer. She now aspires to use her images and stories to promote conservation and to educate the public on how to help protect the many species currently under threat from human activity.

She regularly works on projects with individual species, developing a deep appreciation and understanding of them before using this to help raise awareness. She also runs regular workshops and tours, not only to help others capture beautiful images and teach individuals the art of photography but also to give them the opportunity to experience how magical the natural world is.

Needless to say there will also be plenty of special offers to take advantage of for this evening only.

About Jack Lodge

"I am a local landscape photographer from Dorset and love to share my adventures as I search for that next stunning sunrise and sunset. I started discovering an interest in photography while studying a BA(Hons) Architecture degree at the Arts University Bournemouth and ever since, have fallen in love with capturing, and more importantly, sharing, the stunning moments I experience as a landscape photographer.

I am constantly learning and being completely self-taught, am always looking to improve my photography. So, since picking up my first camera 4 years ago and taking over 50,000 pictures (many not worth sharing), I finally got the confidence to build my own website and share photos on social media in February 2017. Living in Dorset and being so close to the Jurassic Coast, I am lucky enough to be surrounded by stunning scenery just waiting to be captured.

As well as having a primary focus on landscape photography, I also have extensive experience in working with architects, business owners, start-up companies and marketing agencies to create high-quality, engaging content."

September 2019

7th September - Landscape Photography Workshop with Phil Norton & Olympus UK

7PM - 10PM

£40 per person | Limited to 12 places

This Event will be held in the Peak District

Join Harrison Cameras, Olympus Ambassador Phil Norton and Olumpus UK for a Landscape Photography workshop in the stunning Peak District.

Location
We will be based around the Hathersage area of the Peak District not far from Sheffield, which gives us access to many places, including Higger Tor and Wyming Brook for water falls. Higger Tor offers stunning views from high locations over the Peak District and the Hope Valley with compositions that will capture the essence and rugged beauty of the area. Wyming Brook has many possibilities for flowing water with small but dramatic waterfalls. Time and light will dictate which locations and which order we visit them, although we hope to include both.

Access and Fitness
Easy/Moderate-Access to Higger Tor is easy for average fitness, with short walks and steep but short inclines. Access to Wyming Brook is easy with a short and moderately steep walk back.

Equipment
Olympus Body, Wide Angle lens (7-14 is ideal), Moderate Zoom (12-40 or similar), spare batteries and plenty of Memory Card storage are advised. A cable release is suggested, along with a good sturdy tripod. If you have filters available please bring them, ND, Graduated ND, Polarisers.

Clothing
Warm clothing is essential. September should be mild although the Peak District can get cold in a breeze even on a mild day, especially towards sunset. Layers are advised, along with a waterproof coat. Sturdy waterproof walking shoes or boots, and Wellington Boots for Wyming Brook will be a good idea. And please bring a bottle of water to keep you hydrated.

About Phil Norton

My first introduction to photography was as a student at Hull University where I studied Spatial Design, and photography was part of the creative process. It was all 35mm film with manual Minolta cameras. My first camera of my own was an Olympus OM10 and OM40.

Starting a new job after University, and a family, gave little time for photography but eventually the bug took hold again. With the advent of digital it was a new world, I sold all my darkroom gear and got my first digital camera, a Canon EOS 350D. I quickly moved on to Full Frame with the Canon 5Di/ii/iii and L lenses.

Recently I started using Olympus again, with the m4/3 bodies it was like coming home. I now use a couple of bodies and the Pro lenses alongside Canon. Other than an introduction at University I am completely self taught.

My landscape images focus mainly around the stunning scenery in North of England, The Peak District, Moors and Dales of Yorkshire, Lake District and the Coast. I have a passion for the coast, I adore everything about it, the sea, the air and atmosphere, and I try in each and every image I capture to convey the beauty, and the drama of the great outdoors. I enjoy capturing images that show the beauty of our landscapes, and also it's raw dramatic power. I feel at home shooting a stunning sunset or a dark stormy day, both stir the soul.

I have been published in many photography magazines, won awards and competitions and I am a regular contributor to a number of online resources. I supply stock images which have been seen in many publications. The greatest satisfaction I get when I get home tired, and usually wet, is when I receive a thank you from someone who has one of my images on their wall.

I run Workshops over a wide range of locations and always try to inspire and encourage, successfully so I'm told. Workshops are small groups or 1 to 1 and focus on your ability with the aim to get you to the next level. I also teach Photoshop and Lightroom.
