The Hawke Nature Trek 8x25 Binoculars are well worth investing in, as they give more light input through the larger objective lenses which are the lenses at the opposite end to the eyecups. Shock resistant polycarbonate body providing a robust yet still lightweight pair of top-hinge binoculars. Light input on the 8x magnification is outstanding and will make a significant difference at dusk and dawn, when it is more tricky to see clearly, or on really overcast days when light is poor.
They are nitrogen purged so that fogging is avoided in damp conditions and have been fully sealed so they are waterproof which means that they can be briefly submerged in water with no adverse results. They can also be washed under the tap, if they get very dirty. The inner-focus design on the optics, means that the seals are kept tight and the rubber focusing wheel is really easy to use, even when wearing gloves. It rotates freely, when turned but remains fixed once set and the fine-tuning eyesight correction on the right hand barrel of the binoculars, means that the focusing can be extremely accurate for most eyes.
It is very easy to set the eyesight correction, as the wheel has three stops both on the plus and minus range of corrections and once set, can stay fixed for as long as required. The eye-cups can twist up for when the binoculars are being used without glasses and then twisted down, when used with spectacles or sunglasses.
The optics are extremely good, as they incorporate the BAK4 style of prisms and are multi-coated. It is very difficult to get edge to edge quality, but BAK 4 prisms give a more rounded exit pupil ensuring excellent colour contrast and crisp edge to edge quality. With a close focus distance of 2m, the Hawke Nature Trek 8x25 binoculars provide effortless focusing and impressive depth of field which make them extremely easy and comfortable to use.
The polycarbonate body on these Hawke Nature Trek 8x25 binocular is really strong and lightweight and will take the odd knock, although the lenses need to be treated carefully, as it is easy for the barrels to fall out of collimation, if they are not looked after. You can tell if there is a collimation issue, as the image appears in double making the binoculars impossible to use. Easy to hold, the 8x magnification ensures that loads of light gets through to the eye and the binoculars come with a protective carry case, neck strap and lens cloth.
