The Canon 85mm 1.8 USM EF Lens is another super lens for portrait photography, with a short telephoto focal length and a large maximum aperture this makes lens ideal for working indoors and in low light conditions. The virtually circular aperture diaphragm on the Canon 85mm 1.8 gives the out-of-focus regions a softer and more even feel, using the short focal length the lens has the ability to slightly compress perspectives reducing the size of prominent facial features for more flattering results.

A ring-type ultrasonic motor on the Canon 85mm 1.8 Lens drives the autofocus extremely quickly, and in near silence. It offers excellent holding torque, ensuring that the point of focus is reached accurately, without overshooting. Fulll-time manual override is available, making it possible to adjust focus without leaving Auto Focus mode.

Canon's Super Spectra coatings ensure accurate colour balance and enhanced contrast whilst also reducing flare and ghosting, a common problem caused in digital photography, by light bouncing off a camera's sensor.
