Thambar-M is an optically sharp lens which has permitted aspherical aberrations to give the soft focus effect. Although launched all those years ago, the new version of the lens uses the ability of instant viewing that digital cameras allow to achieve the desired ethereal effect that is so sympathetic to photography today. A Leica-M lens includes multiple types of optical glass and undergoes around 60 quality control checks to ensure that the finished product is perfect. The polishing process used by Leica on their lens optics was specifically developed by them and the deep cleaning ultrasonic bath that is used on all the optics, deep cleans them before they are coated ensuring that all the coatings are perfectly even and permanent. Each lens is then hand finished, tested and undergoes further inspection before being shipped out.
