Leica have announced a new firmware update for the Leica T Camera. Users can now download the new version 1.4 from Leica’s website here or the update can be carried out as a complementary service at Leica Customer Care and Leica Stores.
The firmware update also expands the portfolio of Leica lenses which can also be used on the Leica T. The camera shares the same L bayonet mount with the new Leica SL Camera – updating the firmware allows SL lenses to be used on the T body.
Leica have just launched a new lens for the Leica T and SL Cameras. Lenses which can be used on both systems (as well as the SL lenses) will be designed as ‘TL’ lenses. The new Leica Summilux-TL 35mm f/1.4 ASPH Lens is scheduled for availability in Spring 2016, you can pre-order the lens here, available in both anodized black and silver. This will be joined by the Leica APO-Macro-Elmarit-TL 60mm f/2.8 ASPH Lens, which will be available Autumn next year.
Please note: Do not attach a Leica SL Lens to a Leica T Camera without first installing firmware 1.4 or later on Leica T. Using a firmware prior than 1/4 will cause severe damage to the SL Lens.
