The Sigma 70-200mm F2.8 DG DN OS Sports for Sony E is a professional telephoto zoom built for full-frame mirrorless cameras. It pairs a constant F2.8 aperture with optical stabilisation and dual linear-motor autofocus, and on an a7 IV, a7C II or a7R V it handles sport, events, weddings, wildlife and portraits.

Sigma 70-200mm F2.8 DG DN OS Sports for Sony E, optical design

Optical design

There are 20 elements in 15 groups, including six FLD, two SLD and three aspherical elements, for sharp, contrasty images across the zoom range.

Dual HLA autofocus

Two HLA linear motors drive two floating focus groups, which gives fast, precise tracking for sport and action.

Optical stabilisation

OS2 stabilisation gives up to 7.5 stops at 70mm and 5.5 stops at 200mm (CIPA). Mode 2 uses Sigma's Intelligent OS for panning.

Controls and handling

It is an inner zoom, so the length never changes. There is an aperture ring with a click switch and a lock, three AFL buttons, a focus limiter and a detachable Arca-Swiss compatible tripod foot. The body is dust- and splash-resistant.

Who it's for

This is for working photographers who need a fast, stabilised telephoto zoom. The Sigma 100-400mm F5-6.3 DG DN OS reaches further for wildlife at a much lower weight, and the Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN II completes the classic two-zoom kit.
