The Nikon Z 50mm f1.8 S-Line lens achieves optical performance superior to that of conventional f1.8 lenses due to the lens arrangement made possible by the Z lens mount from Nikon. Remarkable rendering performance is achieved through resolving power that provides sharp reproduction of details across the entire frame at any focus distance, soft and beautiful bokeh characteristics even at short distances, reduced axial chromatic aberration, and superb point-image reproduction.
The Nano Crystal Coat effectively reduces ghost and flare which ensures clear, sharp rendering even under backlit conditions. Movie recording performance is designed with consideration including details such as focus breathing compensation and minimized operational sound. The newly adopted control ring enables comfortable shooting with its superior operational feel, including functions such as focus (M/A), aperture and exposure compensation.
A stepping motor (STM) is included for quiet and responsive AF control. As well as being both dust- and drip-resistant, Nikon have ensured the lens has been weather-sealed – moving parts and all. Even during high-speed continuous shooting, exposure is stably controlled through adoption of an electromagnetic diaphragm mechanism.
