The Viking Vistron range of binoculars, is a terrific range and proved to be really well manufactured with brilliant optics. There are different body styles depending on personal prference, but these 8x42's are great for everyday viewing with a standard 8 X magnification and a large objective lens of 42mm for outstanding light gathering capabilities. The objective lens is the opposite end to the eyepieces and is really important for getting the light into the prisms inside the binoculars, so the larger it is, generally the brighter the image, although some binoculars can have large objective lenses, but really poor glass inside, which means that the image is fuzzy.
The Vistron range of binoculars tick all the boxes for optics, as they have been carefully manufactured and fitted and coated with silver to help with colour rendition and crispness. They are waterproof, as the body is sealed and nitrogen filled, so even fogging isn't an issue and the focus wheel is designed for easy turning, even when wearing gloves. There is an eyesight correction wheel on the right hand barrel, which can be set for individual eyesight differences. It is really easy to do, just focus the binoculars until the image appears crisp and then shut the left eye and turn the eyesight correction wheel until the image is absolutely sharp, then just leave it in place for optimum viewing.
As in most binoculars, the eyecups twist up, so that the binoculars can be used with or without glasses. This is really important for spectacle wearer and anyone who is using them in very bright light and needs to wear sunglasses. If using the binoculars without glasses, then simply twist up the eyecups and they fit perfectly into the eye sockets, allowing for optimum eye relief, so the eyes don't become tired over long viewing periods. They have a close focus option of 1.5 meters, which always seems a bit odd, but is absolutely great for any wildlife that happens to be close by, particularly insects, because, it means every minute detail can be seen. The other advantage of the 8x42 binoculars, is the wide field of view, so it is easy to pick up objects at a distance even if they are travelling quite quickly. Often, with stronger magnification binoculars, it is necessary to locate the subject to be viewed with the naked eye and then use the binoculars, but the spread of the field of view is greater with the smaller magnifications.
Great for low light viewing, the Vistron 8x42 Binoculars are comfortable to hold and not too heavy, but still maintain excellent optical quality and Viking run strict quality control systems to make sure that every unit gets to you in tip top condition.
They come with a carry case, neck strap and caps.
