High-quality Optics

The lens arrangement in the Sony 16-70mm lens includes an AA (Advanced Aspherical) lens element [1], three aspherical lenses [2] and one ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass element [3]. The AA and aspherical elements work to reduce astigmatism, field curvature, coma and other aberrations. The ED lens element reduces chromatic aberrations and colour fringing. Collectively, the lenses ensure images are consistently sharp throughout the zoom range.  

Sony have included Zeiss T Coating on the lenses to reflect a large percentage of incoming light so flare and ghosting is reduced. Images will have a three-dimensional feel with enhanced colour contrast. 

Autofocus and Handling

Featuring a linear autofocus motor and internal focus design that works to drive rapid, precise and near-silent autofocusing – beneficial for shooting movies.  

The customisable focus hold button is placed conveniently on the lens barrel for intuitive focus control and can be customised via camera menu. 

Built-in Image Stabilisation

Featuring the Optical SteadyShot image stabilisation technology built within the lens to ensure handheld shooting is stable enough to produce sharp images. With the maximum F4 aperture, you can achieve clear night shots without having to increase ISO unnecessarily.
