Description
The Sony RX1 is a discrete, professional specification full frame compact camera. Made in Japan, the camera as you would expect oozes quality and is made of a magnesium alloy to a very high standard, but still manages to weigh less than 500g (including a battery and SDHC memory card). The legendary Carl Zeiss lens confirms that this camera is made with optimum picture quality in mind. The 35mm F2 Sonnar T* lens is ideal for "street" photography but can be used for a multitude of situations, such as landscape, architectural, reportage etc. The T* lens coating helps to make the most of the light gathering capabilites and also reduce aberration.
The full frame sensor within the camera is the CMOS Exmor 24.3m pixel sensor, which is also the same sensor as the Sony flagship SLR, the ALPHA SLT-A99. This sensor is quite remarkable in its low light sensitivity, it has ISO selction from 100 through to 25,600 in normal modes.
The camera does have additional settings to take the ISO as low as 50 or as high as 102,400. The camera has a fast reliable auto focus system, the focus ring on the lens also offers accurate manual focus options. It also offers Full HD 1080 progressive movie recording, couple this with the fast aperture lens and full frame sensor, you really have the chance to capture some truly stunning movies.
