The Milan 8x42 Roof Prism Binoculars are lovely and compact and ergonomically shaped for ease of use, especially out doors and in difficult conditions. They are rubber armoured, so really well protected and the armouring is ribbed to help with handling. The Milan 8x42 Binoculars have a high luminosity and provide sharp and brilliant images, even at dusk and dawn with edge to edge clarity. The large centre focusing wheel ensures precise, accurate focus and the multi coated BAK-4 prism and multi coated optics provides the user with superior optical performance.
The Nitrogen gas filling means the Binoculars optics avoid fogging and also makes the binoculars waterproof and they are pressure tested down to 1 meter just to be sure. The in-built dioptre adjustment on the Milan range of binoculars, helps combat eye strain and is really easy to set up. Just focus the binoculars using both eyes and then close one eye and turn the dioptre dial, which will accurately fine tune the focusing for your eyes.
The eyecups twist up an down depending on whether you need to use glasses or not and the binoculars come with a high quality hard carrying case for additional protection, a neoprene neck strap and a 5 year warranty. These binoculars come with a rain guard to protect the eyepieces, but not objective lens covers, as they generally get lost.
A magnification of 8x is probably the most suitable for nature viewing, as the field of view is wider than 10x, enabling the subject to be located much more quickly over a wide ranging horizon. 10x magnification will make the subject appear closer, but often if the objective lens is small, then the reduction in light gathering power due to the larger magnification, means that detail can be lost.
Binocular manufacturers tend to combat this lack of light with higher quality glass and better coatings, so it does depend on the manufacturer as to how much light is lost.
