A Brief History
Karl Lenhart, who was in manufacturing of wooden letters, wasn’t happy with the ski poles that were on the market at the time and as so often happens with entrepreneurs, they invent something better and the end result was the Leki. He began in the 1960’s using glass fibre composite shafts, as he had experience with this material whilst working in the aviation industry and commenced mass production of the ski poles. Through innovation and design updates, the Ski Poles turned into cross country poles and then into walking poles. It was then a very short step to add a ¼ inch screw on the top of the pole for mounting a camera.
Harrison Cameras and Leki
We have been selling a basic Leki range since 1999 and have found them to be well made and great for use with a digital SLR camera, or spotting scope. The Leki brand is very comprehensive with an excellent range of walking poles, but we also stock their tables and chairs as they are brilliantly designed. After sales service is great and we can often obtain spare parts or get them repaired if they have taken a bit of a bashing.
